The National University of Ireland in Galway (NUIG) has commissioned a new Clinical Research Facility and Translational Research Facility (CRF-TRF). We are pleased to annouced that Pipeline Solutions NI in conjuction with Bam Contractors and LMC Energy Solutions have won the contract to install the Medical and Laboratory Gas systems.
The four storey building will be situated on the grounds of University Hospital Galway directly adjacent to the University’s Clinical Service Institute, UHG’s Critical Care Facilities, Ward Accommodation Block and Maternity Wards.
The ground and first floor will accommodate the HRB Clinical Research Facility. This facility forms part of an Irish Network of Clinical Research Facilities, which will allow patients to access state of the art clinical research in stem cells, gene therapy, biomaterials and immunology. It will also have an area for clinical research in regenerative medicine. The installation will require direct links to the existing hospital at both levels and will be owned and operated by the Health Services Executive and University Hospital Galway.
The Translational Research Facility will be housed on the second and third floor of the building incorporating open and flexible lab spaces. It will link directly to the Clinical Science Institute where many of the University’s medical students are located.
The building work has already started and Pipeline Solutions NI is due to start on site in late July 2014.
